Inbound Marketing vs. Outbound Marketing
When the majority marketers today talk about how they generate leads and fill the top of their sales funnel, most say outbound marketing.
So what is outbound marketing?
Outbound marketing includes trade shows, seminar series, email blasts to purchased lists, internal cold calling, outsourced telemarketing, and advertising.
In other words, these methods are described as "outbound marketing" because marketers push their message out far and wide hoping that it resonates with that needle in the haystack.
Brian Halligan believes outbound marketing techniques are getting less and less effective over time for two main reasons:
- People are being inundated with too many marketing interruptions each day
- The cost of coordination around learning about something new using the internet is much lower than attending a seminar or flying to a trade show in Las Vegas
Instead, he advocates inbound marketing.

Testimonials
"Using the Honeyweb system has streamlined how we communicate to our web database immensely. We are able to get multiple messages out to our customers in an interactive way that allows us to track what people are responding to most. Steven has made the tedious job of setting up these types of media very easy and we look forward to growing our database and using the system more frequently in the future"
