55% Don’t Recognise Paid Ads in Google

55% of searchers don’t know which links in the SERPs are PPC (pay-per-click) ads, according to a new survey.

Up to 50% of users shown a search engine results page (SERP) screenshot do not identify paid ads.

In February it was found that out of 1,010 UK internet users who were asked the question below, 50.6% couldn’t identify which links were ads: Do you know which links on the Google search results page are paid adverts?

This figure has now changed to 55%.

The “comparative benchmark” for SEOs illustrates how ranking factors are becoming more personalized, content relevance is paramount, technical factors are still as important as ever, and backlinks are seeing a downward trend in importance.

Aussies Spent 552 Million Hours Googling Things Last Year: Roy Morgan

Any doubt you had about which search engine was the most used across Australia has been utterly squashed flat by Roy Morgan with stats showing just how much time we spend on Google compared to other search engines.

In a four week period, the 16.903 million people aged 14 years and over who went onto Google, spent on average 2.5 hours on the search engine. This equates to around 552 million hours Googling each year, said Roy Morgan.

Google Takes A Look At The 2015 Trending Christmas Gifts

Google has released data about the top gifts trending on its Search bar in the United States- it looks like our American counterparts are searching for smart TVs, drones and adult onesies.

Americans are searching for 90s clothing including bomber jackets and Levi jeans. “Looking at this year’s top-trending apparel list you’ll be forgiven for thinking we’ve gone back to the 90s,” said Google data content and insights guy Brad Johnsmeyer.
